Avery Burdette

Avery Burdette was born in Guntersville, Alabama and began playing the foot pedals of his mother’s organ at the age of 4.  After abandoning the trombone for rock keyboard in the late '60s, he eventually moved to Boston to study music composition at the Berklee School of Music. He has been playing acoustic piano, organ and keyboards ever since.  Back in Alabama, he formed the Burdette Quartette and gained local notoriety as a jazz player. Avery later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he played honky-tonk, blues, country and rock ‘n' roll, both as a studio musician and on the road as a sideman for many incredible headline artists.

After his second child was born, Avery felt a need to get a day job and began working for Yamaha Music. In 1996, he moved his family to California, continued working for Yamaha and has also continued playing solo piano and works in many Southern California bands as a keyboard man  in both club and concert settings. Avery is now also heeding a strong calling to sing bebop.
