Mari Haig

Mari Haig is a versatile and talented musician. As an accomplished violinist, violist and sought-after teacher, her days are always busy. A frequent performer, Mari has appeared as a recitalist and chamber music player. She is an active free-lancer in the Southern California area and a member of several well respected ensembles, including Chamber Orchestra of the South Bay. And don't miss hearing the Crown Players, a trio performing some very popular selections! They are available for engagements such as corporate events, weddings and receptions or any social function where good music is appreciated.

Mari's groups, from string duo, trio, quartet, to guitar/violin duo, covers a wide range of styles:  jazz style favorites from works of Duke Ellington, Gershwin, and pop standards in a jazz style.  Or, standards from 1920's to the present age from movies and musicals.  Or, choose from pop/rock standards from the Beatles to Cold Play.  Or, ethnic favorites from Spain, Italy, France, Ireland.   Or, classical works from Baroque to Romantic with works by Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Pachelbel, Mozart, Schubert, Strauss.  The guitar/violin duo, or keyboard/violin duo can also play improvisation in New Age genre!  And, the guitar/violin duo can do ...Gypsy Fiddle!

 

Mari, Concertmaster for Musique Sur La Mer orchestra, performed tribute concerts at the Royal College of Music, London, in 2011 for the wedding of HRH Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton, and in 2012 for the 60th Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  In the U.S.,  Mari won a performance award for Fiddle Solo in the Topanga Banjo and Fiddle contest, and composed/performed for movies by the late R.J. Adams.  Her improvisations can be heard on the Emmy Award winning sound-tracks for the CBS television show "The Bold and the Beautiful."... after the sentence that is already there: "...appeared as a recitalist and chamber music player. Mari's repertoire encompasses a variety of works by Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Pachelbel, Clarke, Mozart, Haydn, Schubert, Beethoven, Brahms and others. Some familiar titles included are Water Music, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Bach Air, Pachelbel's Canon, Four Seasons themes, Ode to Joy and special selections from old Elizabethan times.
