The Calypso Kings

Mark Wood, Doug Legacy, Josh Schreiber and Brad Cummings all come to The Calypso Kings direct from Mark Wood and the Parrot Head Band, one of the country’s best Jimmy Buffett tribute bands!

The core of this band has been together for more than fifteen years (give or take a few) and has always loved the “little latitude" Caribbean feel! It all started many years ago, with a trip to Jamaica and Trinidad. The infectious island grooves and steeldrum sounds were forever imbedded in those young players minds.

Soon after, Doug began lessons with longtime friend and legendary Trinidadian steeldrummer, Robert Greenidge. Brad Cummings, the band's bassist, has long been a student of the world beat grooves from Africa and the Caribbean. Josh Schreiber lays down the beat in this band. He is a New Jersey native who, as a kid, spent spring and summer vacations in Florida and later, in the Caribbean and became hooked on those island grooves. Mark Wood, a longtime Jimmy Buffett and Harry Belafonte fan, was introduced to the island sounds years ago!

The Calypso Kings perform a mixture of Calypso, Reggae, Soca, and Samba/Salsa, all true to the partying Island style. This is the perfect band for your upcoming event. Just imagine this … The Calypso Kings along with tiki huts, island garb, plenty of Rum drinks and instantly, you have a truly festive, party atmosphere that your guests will not soon forget.

The Calypso Kings can perform for your event in many different configurations. You can book Mark and Doug as a duo or add as many players as you want. We know all of the great Caribbean players and can make the band as big as you like! You see, the Island style will work with any size band, anywhere, anytime!

The Calypso Kings have performed all over the world, for all type of events with different-sized groups.
